Maria + Cody | Magical Calamigos Ranch Wedding | Malibu, Ca

** Featured on The Perfect Palette! **

I first met these two during their engagement session at Vasquez Rocks, they brought their fur baby Chet to their session and all I kept thinking was – wow, this family is everything!! Their joy was infectious – and that same joy was present on their wedding day. Maria and Cody both got ready at Calamigos and opted in for a first look, I’m so glad they did since this venue has endless opportunities for photos. We were able to visit the rustic parts of the property, as well as the whimsical. (I’m a sucker for carousels!)

Maria loves succulents (hey, we have that in common!) – her florist included them in all her arrangements and I pretty much melted when I saw her bouquet! Maria and Cody’s ceremony was set for later in the evening. There was something so serene about being in that space after dark; it was peaceful, romantic and dreamy.

Check out a bit from their day below!

Wedding Colors: White & Mint
Theme or three words to best describe your day: Romantic, Intimate and Joyous

Share your inspiration and the atmosphere you’re creating for your wedding.

The atmosphere I wanted to create for the wedding was intimate and magical. I wanted people to walk in and be able to walk into my dream wedding and actually say WOW.

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s).

I was inspired by the Twilight Wedding and wanted and outdoor ceremony and something that was right in the middle of nature. Calamigos was the first venue I found and I was immediately in love. We tried looking at other locations but I kept going back to Calamigos until we finally booked it.

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples?

Along the way of planning the wedding, there will be lots of moments of angst but the important thing to do is to always take a deep breathe and when the day comes, let all the stress go because the day will happen regardless of how you feel so I would definitely say its a better day when you are happy and present in the moment and not worrying about the little things anymore.

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

My favorite part was being able to plan it along side my fiance. We made all the decisions together and talked about everything because at the end of the day it was OUR day. It was nice to be able to discuss things and learn a little more about each other with each decision we made. We ended up doing more things than we had initially expected to do and added several things and it only made the big day more special for us.

Congrats Maria and Cody!! Thanks for having us!

XO,

V
