Claudia + James | A Sunny and Sweet Engagement at Venice Beach, CA

I’m incredibly lucky to work with couples who are beautiful inside and out! These two kindhearted humans made this Venice Beach session extra special with their fun-loving energy and amazing style. They brought along their rescued fur baby, Margeaux!! Take a look at our adventures through Abbot Kinney Boulevard, the Venice Canals and Venice Beach…

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends. In a sense we were kind of set up by our friends who were a couple at the time. I was good friends with the girl and he was good friends with the guy. They both invited us to a small get together that turned out being a double date essential because everyone else last minute couldn’t come. We hit it off that night and have been together ever since.

What is your proposal story?

James set up a hike in Malibu for a specific weekend in April of 2019. I had a inkling he was going to propose because he was very into planning this hike, when hiking is not really his thing. At the lockout point on this hike, with 4 of our closest friends he popped the question. He didn’t surprise me for the actual moment but on the same day at night, James was able to pull of a surprise engagement party with around 40 of our closest friends in his parent’s backyard. I thought we were going to have an intimate dinner with his family at Mastros celebrating our engagement but when we arrived at his house to pick up his parents, no one was in the house. I decided to take our dog Margeaux out and as Margeaux led me to the backyard all our friends and family popped out to surprise us.

Why did you choose your engagement location and what do you love about it?

We loved how it could capture so many different type of scenarios all in one spot, from Abbot Kinney the more artsy and modern architecture, to Venice canal very romantic and calm landscape, and lastly to Venice beach a true beach and carefree vibe. We loved how each spot had its different flavor, colors and greenery to choose from.

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their engagement session?

Just have fun and enjoy being able to capture this special moment with each other. Don’t worry too much about the perfect outfit or how the photos will turn out.⠀⠀

What is your favorite thing about being engaged?

Wearing the shinny new rock ;P

JK in all seriousness its to know that you’re growing and progressing with the person you know you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Congrats again on your engagement Claudia and James, I can’t wait to document your wedding day!!
