Julie + Bruno | Woodland Wonderland Inspired Wedding | Calamigos Ranch, Malibu, Ca

Julie and Bruno’s beautiful wedding was at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, Ca. and if you have been following my work, you know I’m a sucker for “fairytale” type weddings… so, needless to say, their Woodland Wonderland Inspired wedding was right up my alley! I didn’t get a chance to meet the duo before their wedding day; and I’ll admit, I was a mix of nerves and excitement that day. Especially because Julie inspires me daily with her fashion posts on Instagram! Her Instagram account is full of great outfit tips, travel stories and the right amount of Disney in between. I also follow her blog which serves as a great guide for every day living.

Upon arriving to Julie’s AIR BNB, we immediately knew that we would have an amazing day. Their family and friends were fully invested in being helpful and being in the moment!

It was an overcast day, but of course, as photographers – we didn’t mind! We drove over to the venue, Calamigos Ranch in Malibu and followed the “Julie & Bruno” signs all the way to the The Birchwood Room. After a bit of exploring, we met and grabbed Bruno for his and Julie’s first look!

I know I have said this a thousand times, but I LOVE MY JOB!! Take a look at Bruno’s excitement below as Julie walks up to greet him. His smile says it all!! He is full of joy and happiness; of course, I’m sure a lot of that smiling had to do with how stunning Julie looked in her Mon Amie Bridal gown. She’s a picture perfect bride!  This was not my first time photographing a wedding at Calamigos, but IT WAS my first time at The Birchwood Room! I had visited this venue before (when I was searching for my own fairytale wedding!) so I was somewhat familiar with the space. Still, having seen it all again, I realized once again why this venue is so magical. This particular spot reminds me of a tree-house in a secluded forrest.

It’s like having your own – you guessed it – woodland wonderland! This venue is full of dreamy magical landscapes; the overgrown greenery, vines, water elements and colorful hydrangeas create an atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve walked into a fairytale. What I loved about Julie and Bruno’s wedding is that they did not take anything away from the natural beauty. Their tables were decorated with wooden lanterns and a mix of red, rose and white florals. They really did a great job!! The rest of the evening was full of laughter, sweet smiles, and best of all… love!!

Congrats again to you both!!

XO,

V
